Latest Directive 2011/65/EC, known as Directive RoHS or RoHS 2 on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (recast), puts some limits os lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr6 +), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in the manufacture of some of the electrical and electronic equipment sold in the EU.
FPM laboratory verifies the respect to the directive RoHS provisions with:
• X-ray fluorescence (XRF) screening;
• Research of metals, after acid digestion, with ICP-MS, ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma);
• Research of organic compounds, after extraction, with GC-MS, GC-ECD (electron capture detector);
• Many other analytical instruments.
